Vanilla Sauce
1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 cups boiling water
4 Tbsp. butter
2 tsp. vanilla extract
dash of nutmeg
1. Mix the sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan.
Add the boiling water, stirring constantly.
2. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Stir in the butter, vanilla and nutmeg.
This goes great on bread pudding.
It was always in the Fannie Farmer Cookbook.
